Pastor Kevin was appointed to BUMC in June of 2007 after completing his Master of Divinity degree at Christian Theological Seminary in spring of 2007. While attending seminary he served Whitestown UMC and completed a Residency Program as a Chaplain at Methodist Hospital, a level 1 trauma center, Indiana University cancer and research hospital, and Riley Children’s Hospital. As a Chaplain he ministered to many people not expecting to be sick, or injured. Pastor Kevin often says, “As a chaplain, I had the awesome opportunity to minister with people who normally would not be open to pastoral care. God does work in wondrous ways.”
He entered seminary in 2001 on a part-time basis, while working in the corporate world using his undergraduate degrees in International Business and French which were earned at Ball State University in Muncie Indiana. While attending BSU, he married his college sweetheart Tiffany. They have been married 18 years and have a 6 year old son, Spencer. Their family mission statement is “To serve God and others while fully living life of adventure, fun and intimacy.” Along with their family mission statement, Pastor Kevin uses 1 Corinthians 13:13 as a guide to serving others and God. “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
Pastor Kevin’s passions are seeing people’s lives transformed as a result of a personal relationship with God and with others. It is within a faith community where people are able to fully express and experience their own divinity.
During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, mountain biking, camping and travelling. When asked of his dream vacation he said, “I enjoy travel and experiencing new adventures. I would enjoy renting a villa in Southern France for a few weeks so my family could live the "French" way of life as I did when I studied there in college. I also would enjoy a week in Tahiti, or spend a week canoeing the Boundary Waters of Canada.”
Often times, Pastor Kevin is found with a new book as he enjoys reading. You can see some of his book choices below:

JoAnn Carmichael - Nursery Attendant
JoAnn Carmichael is our Nursery Attendant. She is in the nursery from 8:30-11:30am for the convenience of parents of babies and preschoolers.
Most of you already know JoAnn as being Daren & Barbara Hanauer’s 3rd daughter and, as she puts it, “the favorite”. JoAnn has lived in Bloomfield all of her life and has been a member of BUMC over 40 years—since being confirmed in 1966.
JoAnn has two grown sons: Adam, who now lives in Indy, and Tim, who lives in Bloomfield with his wife Dara & their two children, Timmy and Sophia.
She worked 25 years at Otis until she was laid off. Presently she is employed at Taylor Creations and also works for Ginny Miles. She is president of the Town Board and is also on the Park Board (10 years) and volunteers at the pool.
JoAnn’s hobbies include gardening, flowers, cooking (she makes the best noodles, apple pie, & homemade rolls in the family) and playing with her grandkids, great-nieces & -nephews. JoAnn looks forward to reading Jesus stories to the toddlers (because “it’s never too early to start that”) and playing with the babies. She brings the asset of being licensed in CPR and certified in First Aid to the nursery.
