Bloomfield United Methodist Church is a church that embraces the power and strength of Prayer. In Colossians 4:2, Paul tells us to devote ourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. He also reminds us that prayer is an expression of our faith that we can share with others. As a body of believers, Bloomfield United Methodist Church offers many opportunities to actively pray.
Prayer Chain: Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV) says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” If you know someone or a situation in need of prayer simply contact someone from the church or phone the office and let the church know of the need. It will instantly go out via email and/or phone tree to the prayer warriors who are committed to praying for others. If you would like to become a part of this ministry, phone the church office and your contact information will be added.
Unplug in the The Upper Room: Mark 1:35 tells us that Jesus went to an isolated place to pray before daybreak. He did this to clear his mind so he could devote 100% of his attention to His prayer time. It is so easy for us to get caught up in our daily tasks, or even in God’s work that we forget to find that quiet place to pray. Taking Jesus as our example, we need to find a place to unplug ourselves from the world and plug into the Holy Spirit. Bloomfield United Methodist Church has carved out a place of solitude for anyone needing to unplug and pray. By calling the church office and scheduling time in the Prayer room, individuals can spend as much time as they need to in solitude and prayer.
Clinging Crosses: On the Alter Railings one will find Clinging Crosses. These are made available to anyone who would like to have a tangible item to grasp and embrace while in prayer. Please take the cross with you as a reminder of God’s Love for you and a reminder that the Bloomfield United Methodist Church is a Church that cares. The crosses are also there for individuals who would like to pray for someone they know and then offer the cross as a blessing or tangible gift to that person. What greater gift can we give one another than the gift of prayer?
Prayer Blankets or shawls: Also available on the Alter Railings are Prayer Blankets or shawls. These have been hand made with love. Before they are given to an individual, they are prayed over for the person or situation. Again, these are a tangible item that one can hold on to and wrap around themselves as a reminder of how God’s calming spirit wraps around us when we are in need. Like the clinging crosses, they are there to take and use for yourself or to pray over and give as a gift to someone in need of prayer and support
Prayer Partner: If you would like to ask someone to pray for you or with you privately simply ask. As Christians we uphold one another using our gifts for His glory. Let someone know you would like prayer or would like to pray with someone. Ask a member or phone the church office and arrangements will be made.
